assuming the 970 comes out next yr whenever, and is faster then any chip out (or at least close to speeds of others)...what can we think apple stock will do?

is it gonna sky rocket or just slowly go up?

what are you thinking, like 80's

but more seriously, 20's,30's?

i'm just curious because ALL my money is in apple and until their stock goes up i cant buy a computer for myself

I would hope that the price would only move with earnings. The 970 boxen wont be out of a year and most likely longer.

Did you never hear the one about eggs and baskets? <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

I doubt the release of 970-based machine on its own will skyrocket the share price: the markets are notoriously dumb when it comes to tech matters,, so we'll probably see a blip on the day of announcement, then some concrete results when Apple gains market-share and improves its profitability.

Well, I bought a ton at 14 almost two years ago . . . so if it goes up a lot. . .

It really depends on a number of factors. For instance will they use the chip to make a greater effort at targetting certain markets or will they continue as they are now. How will the OS be going? Will they be making moves to move further towards niche or more towords consumer or high-margin markets. Apple really needs to learn how to balance those two as well.

Basically if things stay as they are now and they just release new PowerMacs you might see them hit low 20s due to a rebound in their sales. Beyond that it really depends on what Apple will do with it. Analysts will like to see evidence the chip is actually going to create growth.
