Would you? Is there any point whatsover in going if the main exhibitor isn't coming and there is no Steve Jobs Keynote?

While I would certainly go without Apple, I fear Apple dropping out will lead to other companies will follow their lead and drop out also.

What do you think? Would you go to a Macworld without Apple?

[quote]IDG: Now that Boston is opening their new Convention Center, we're thinking about moving the Summer MW to Boston. What do you think?

Apple: We don't like the idea. New York is a more attractive destination for attendees, a bigger market, and a better name for marketing notoriety.

IDG: But boston will be cheaper, and the new Center is really big.

Apple: We don't care. We want to keep it in New York.

IDG: It's our expo. We're moving to Boston. New York is too expensive.

Apple: You do that. We'll hook up with another exhibition firm and stick with NY. We'll probably end up using them for SF now as well.

IDG: We're sorry! Let us reconsider! Please?

    Apple: Too late, bozos.

    IDG: We'll cancel Macworld magazine!

Apple: Go ahead. The market will fill the gap.

    IDG: Nooooooo!

    Apple: (click)

Yes, but the IDG - Apple conversations didn't go like that before the deal to move to Boston was signed.

From what the media is saying, Apple's move came out of the blue.

I'd go, there is more to a macworld than apple, and to be quite honest, I don't spend much time at Apple's booth anyway. No Steve Jobs keynote? Great, maybe it'll be less crowded

Let me just throw this out there. We already know Apple is getting away from their hardware announcements at the Macworld Expos. If no new hardware, what's the advantage of having Apple there? To see the same new towers that have already been out for months? To take Jaguar for a test drive? Heck, I can already do that at the Apple retail store 10 miles down the road. Or at CompUSA, for that matter.

All the hubbub over this seems predicated on the va-va-voom factor of the Jobs keynotes and the hardware rollouts. Those days are over, whether Apple attends the East Coast Macworld or not.

Only if it was free...or next to nothing.

True, there are many other cool developers and hardware but the latest Apple gear will probably not be there to play around with.

I will be there. Since apple has really stop introducing new hardware at the show, it takes away from the need to get your hands just announced Powermac, iMac, etc... All the show I go to have been to see the newest software and gadgets to use with my Macs

Manhattan is 50% of the coolness of going anyway. Boston... hmmm. Dunno why, but everytime I would go there I had terrible time and got bored senseless. After 5 times, it seems more than a pure coincidence.

Anyway, to answer the question, no
