I'm at a point in my computing life where I could go either way without too much hassle, so if I'm going to switch from Entourage, I'd like to do it very soon. Which do you prefer and why?
At face value it's just a hopped-up version of Outlook Express with a calendar built into it. But, the Outlook Express pedigree carries galaxies of weight for yours truly....right now. The inter-connection with the Office suite is very handy and the degree of user control is miles ahead of mail...from the account manager to the schedules manager to the junk mail manager. The term "maturity" was apt. Apple's current crop of products are intriguing but not worthy of making me switch to Mail.
If Apple is truly building hooks into Address Book it would be smart of Microsoft to utilize the Address Book more in the next full-blown iteration of Entourage...or create some kind of easy synchronization between the two.
Right now, I'd have to say entourage just because it's more mature than the addressbook and ical. But in 3 months, there's no telling. I have no doubt that the iApps will improve at a much faster rate than entourage will (it hasn't changed significantly from office 2001). And Mail, IMHO, is a better mail program (nothing beats that junk mail filter). So if you're willing to wait a couple months for the REAL ical/addressbook/isync combo, go ahead and grin and bear it so that the transition is not a problem. That's what I'm doing.
Entourage by a landslide, esp. if you have it and are using it now.
I agree with the others--as the iApps mature, they may pass it, and if you are a casual user it's okay to migrate--but there's no real reason to, AND if you are on these boards it is doubtful you are a casual user.
I wanted to migrate after Jaguar hit the streets, but there were too many features missing, and I feel the whole "smaller apps, totally integrated" thing is still not 100% there.

Entourage's integrative function is great and u do not need to open so more applications separetly.
not to mention that its interface is cool, and it also has a great spam filter. Never received a spam since I used entourage.
And personally speaking, I prefer Entourage's calender. Looks nicer and is integrated with Entourage's address book. Very convenient.
the choice is yours, the pleasure is mine
