Trading my iMac

I have an old 500MHz iMac DV SE snow w/ 40Gb HD and the rage 128 8Mb video card. I've also upgraded the RAM to 384. There's a guy in one of my classes wanting to start out with a mac, and gets wholesale on PC products through his work. He's proposing a 21-23" monitor for the iMac I currently have. I just purchased the top iBook Apple has to offer , but without knowing about spanning capabilities (rather with no evidence of a hack yet), is this a good deal? If spanning does in fact come about, could I span to my TV? I'm just wondering if I should go to eBay or to this guy. Any ideas?

I think it's a decent deal if spanning works on the new iBooks.

hmm... I think i might be able to squeeze about 500-600 out of this baby with all the software that's on it... I think I might just do that and buy a monitor seperately.

Yeah, I think the monitor isn't worth as much - probably only about $200-$300 unless it's a really nice monitor. The iMac is probably about $500 (probably not $600 though).

I wouldn't get a monitor before figuring out if spanning works on the new iBook. You want to make sure.

Where can you get a 21" monitory for $300??? Unless it's used and crap.

For a nice one it would be around $400

I don't know though, if he picks it out, it probley wouldn't be what you'd pick.
