Anyone else notice that the Apple Watch Series 3 is measuring or calculating VO2?

In the Health app, under Activity there is a new category showing VO2 max.  If you click through you can see the source is the new Apple Watch. I’m not sure if it is a WatchOS 4 thing or new hardware but it is very interesting.

    Interesting. 

    I have an original Apple Watch that I wear daily, and it does not show up as a data source, nor has any data been recorded at all.
