Best way to prepare iPhone for a new owner?

I would like advice on what to do to get my iPhone 6s Plus to pass on to a family member. I also have a Apple Watch do I need to unpair before erasing all data? Gonna get the iPhone X tomorrow And want to have everything ready. Should I wait to wipe my iPhone until after I get everything else transferred to my new phone? I backed up to the cloud earlier and making a backup through iTunes. Thanks in advance. Can’t wait for tomorrow!!!

    I would wait till you get your new phone set up to wipe the old one... "just in case."

    The watch I'm not sure about... I haven't changed phones since I got my watch.
