AppleInsider podcast reviews Apple's iPhone X with Face ID

This week on the AppleInsider podcast, Victor and Dan talk about the best things he's found using the iPhone X, its edge-to-edge OLED display, Face ID unlock system, and more.

AppleInsider editors Daniel Eran Dilger and Victor Marks discuss:
  • Dan's iPhone X review
  • Commentary on supply chain bottleneck rumors (we suspect they aren't as bad as they were reported)
  • The people still lining up for an iPhone
  • How Apple's media approach has changed for this release.
  • A bit of a sidetrack on screen orientation.
  • A mention of the sales numbers of iPhone from the earnings call (It's a lot. Quite a lot. It makes "bottleneck supply chain rumors" look silly.)
  • Reiterating that app developers do not have access to Face ID data.

I'd be interested in the editors' views on the future of the iPhone, especially in terms of sizes like you discussed near the end of the podcast. If Apple moves away from the "regular" iPhone style and starts selling only the X style, do you think they'd go back to just one size? Or if there's a Plus, is the current X size the Plus, and they make a smaller phone, or is there an even larger X Plus? What size would you guess?

I think the future phones will be a step forward from X. It is very obvious the direction where iPhone is going from all the previous to current design iteration. The future iPhone is going to remove all “hardware” and bring the contents the only thing you interact with. It doesn’t mean lack of hardware, that’s impossible, but the hardware will seemingly disappear. Now we see wireless headphone and wireless charger, all screen an no home button. What’s next? Removing the remaining buttons? Even the notch would eventually disappear. The display would be transparent.

    we will see.

David Pough has done a review for the iPhone X, though I remember him saying Apple doesn't have him review the watch anymore since he doesn't like them. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/iphone-x-review-gorgeous-pricey-worth-140711029.html
