Best recording media?

I am about to purchase the Pioneer DVR-105 for my PowerMac G4 (Sawtooth). I would like to hear from others on what they think is the best media to record audio music with. In other words, what brand name CD-R should I use?



Also, any tips on what brand(s) are best for a) photos, and b) general backup?



I am just getting started with "recording," therefore, any tips on what to use - CD-R or CD-RW or DVD-R - for backups would be helpful.

    i use cd-r for back ups. Mitsui and Taiyo-Yuden cd-rs for my music cds, they are the best, but i will also use Sony and Maxell and TDK sometimes
