Just be sure you use a Mac when doing it. Cuz, seriously, who wants to be downloading Windows drivers on Christmas. Also, when you plug in your camera, it will go "ANHH!"
I have been doing some searching for a digital camera for christmas as well. Some of the things that i have decided upon which will influence the price are that i want it to have 3+ megapixels, and i want it to have 3x optical zoom or better. Some other issues to consider are whether you want to be able to have the ability to attach other lenses to the camera, size, software package and etc.
I have narrowed down my choices to some fujifilm cameras and one sony camera. The cancn's are nice, but to get 3+ megapixels, you are almost guaranteed to pay more than $400 for it. So I decided against canon. At this point, i am leaning towards fujifilm.
A durhhh...Silly me. That coupon was for Dell. Cameras are 10% off at Dell, but you can't use that coupon in conjunction with the 10% off... 50 bucks off 400 is better than 10% though.
Let me add my two cents. I bought the Canon Digital Elph S330 last summer from Dell and just love it. It's two megapixels with a 3x optical zoom. Price was $350 with free shipping. I also bought a 128 Mb memory card for $70, a $10 carrying case, and a spare battery for another $50 or so. Great camera and very easy to use for the novice. It could do better in low light situations, but all cameras have their flaws.
I suggest that you read the review at Steve's Digicams. I would recommend it to my own Mom. Best of luck.
Oh yeah...and you can stick every camera in the Canon Elph series into your pocket or a small purse, which means the hassle factor of hauling a camera around is really reduced.

You can get one for just over $350 shipped to your door by using this $50 off $400 coupon code: 9F0F6002515A
You need to add a cheap item like a pack of $4 CD-Rs to get the original price over $400 though.

Do we just use that coupon at any store or one particular place?

And I too would seriously recommend reading <a href="http://www.dpreview.com." target="_blank">www.dpreview.com.</a> and [URL=http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html.]http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html./URL] to see how well the cameras actually take pictures, how the batteries hold up, etc.
More to it than just specs and price (as always).
