In responce to the original post, we search for ET for 1 
Our world will eventually die or the population will get so great we will kill ourselves, and 2 While were in the process of spreading our wings(which is human nature)beyond the confinement of a planet we just might find something that will help to cure disese.
As soon as we cure one disese there will always be another to take its place.
