Photoshopping Apple stuff. . . .!

I figured there should be a thread for people to post fun mockups or alterations of apple hardware or other things. We could create quite an impressive library.

Also, the thread in future hardware, thinking about where design for apple is going, and whether or not its reached the pintacle of coolness. We should see if we can come up with cooler designs.

I'll start off with a link to an iMac I altered, I'll call it the Internet iMac edition.

A year or two ago, AppleInsider was at the peak of its "mockup frenzy" (of which I was a prime participant )

I had several flat panel iMac designs and a pre-Titanium PowerBook mockup of what I envisioned the PowerBook being.

This was back during the curvy, colored jellybean "iEra" and there was lots of snazzy stuff flying around here in lime green, tangerine and graphite accents.

A VERY fun period at AI, for sure.

This is funny: when I saw the LCD iMac for the first time (last January, right?), I pretty much was crushed. In a good way.

    I thought "that's it...perfection". And I haven't done a mock-up since.

I don't get into the pro stuff much (just never really cared for it...I think it's underpowered/overpriced), so I almost always focused my ideas on the iStuff. This was back during the "toilet seat" iBook and the CRT iMac days, so there was LOTS of room for improvement (all that wasted space on the original iBook, for instance).

But now, I honestly think the iMac and the iBook are just great, design-wise. Yeah, they could have this processor and that graphic card and so forth, but in terms of sheer industrial design and "smartness" (port location, chrome arm, dropping hinges, etc.), I don't know how I'd improve them.

Which is the reason I started that thread you referred to.

I love seeing mockups from others. It's always a treat. I suck at Photoshop (actually, I don't like Photoshop and only use it when I have to at work or something), so it's fun to see what others do with it.
