Is there someway that I can use my old desktop (2006) as a monitor for my newer laptop (2013)?

    Only the 2009-2014 iMacs could use Target Display Mode (an easy way to do this), but it’s… sort of possible otherwise.

    If your adventurous with a soldering iron and don't mind mucking around inside the machine there are guides out there to rewire older iMac's and make them into DVI port screens.

    Haven't done it myself, trying to get a younger relative who has better hands to have a go at it for me.
    Tallest Skills option works OK if you don't need the Ethernet port for anything else and has a much lower barrier.
