Bluetooth enabled everything (I know this is eventually a given) but with a bluetooth remote control!! So you can connect your computer to your TV and stereo, and run DVD player, and iTunes 3 from the remote! That is what we will see tomorrow!

Where's the bandwidth going to come from. I think you overestimate the speed of Bluetooth.

No, I think what he's saying is control everything via Bluetooth (instead of streaming MP3s, etc).

    My question is: But why?

Joe Consumer has one Mac. What's keeping him from getting to it other than lethargy?

[Addendum] Oh I see. This is the "Living Room Mac" concept. The Mac replacing the home entertainment center...

I don't know. I think it's too close to the turn-off-your-brain-for-television concept Steve hates so much.

EXACTLY! Control, not connection. (I am fully aware of the limited bandwidth.) Your Mac would be hard wired to your entertainment system, and your control would be via bluetooth remote with a possible lcd on the remote to see what you are doing. Your Mac could sit in the same room or in another room (cables come in different lengths). But where this would work best is with either the iBook or TiBook, because obviously you could plop it on top of you stereo system rack, plug it in, sit on the couch and watch DVD's, or listen to CD's. If you have Airport (or any form of wi-fi) you could have streaming audio, or watch trailers!

Why? Why not? You would no longer need to burn DVD's or CD's in order to play them, and us lazy Americans could get even lazier!

I think there are already 3rd party solutions to this that don't require Bluetooth, so they work with EVERY Mac.

yeah...bluetooth has a range of about 10 feet so you better sit next to your computer to control it...

    Actually it's 10 meters..

A meter is a little more than 3 feet.

it's comprised of 100 centimeters which in turn measure 10 millimeters each.

I know it's tough to grasp completely.. but stick with it and soon you'll be using..

BTW for 'user friendly' Metric Time GOTO <a href="http://www.bieltime.com"; target="_blank">Bieltime,

As for remote - I see iPod as a nice remote, I thought the iPod was going to be a remote before it turned out in actual fact to be a music player! We will see if it has dual functionality?

Really problematic - it is simple and it is logical.

while we're in dream world... how about put the remote into a pda form with touchscreen. touch the tv to select it then tell it what to do. same with comp and stereo.

Personally i would love to see wide adoption of some sort of new standard to wirelessly connect all of teh crap in my house. Too many wires, computers, stereo,tv,vcr, dvd, dolby surround, etc.... the list of junk with wires goes on and on. Would absolutely love just to bring a tv home plug it into the power, turn it on, and have it work with everything else in my house.
