iPad Pro looses time setting when set to auto time
My iPad Pro (original version) now with iOS 11.4.1 had been in storage for over 5 months so when I got it back expectedly the battery was completely drained. I completed a full charge and was using it when I noticed the time and date were incorrect. I went to the Time and Date setting and it was set to automatically set the time and date. The Time Zone was set to Cupertino which is fine for my San Diego area also in the Pacific Time Zone. I switched it off and manually set the time and date and went about using the iPad.
After a day or two, I thought I wanted to find out the time and date issue. So I switched back to auto time and the date and time jumped back to the incorrect time and date it had been at when I first noticed it was wrong. I changed the Time Zone to San Diego and turned it back on and still the incorrect date and time. It is like it will not contact an appropriate time and date server to keep accurate readings. It also seems weird that it switches back to the same incorrect date and time when auto is turned on. I searched the Internet for help but only found obvious answers like resetting the iPad, switching auto on and off and so on. I had already tried tried everything I could think of including the suggestions I found on the internet.
I currently have the correct date and time set manually but I wish I knew what was happening with the auto setting. Does the date and time setting have its own battery which could have failed? Is there another way to force the iPad to contact a date and time server? The iPad seems fully functional and manually keeps time but I am aggravated I cannot figure tis out.
Help! Any ideas?
