We need bags and sleeves!

Seems like people are lining up in record numbers to get a piece of the new laptop action. Were gonna need some bags and sleeves to go with that.

Reccomendations? Personally, I looking for something not too big and not too small that'll let me carry my miniPB around pretty much everywhere and still hold a couple of books and some files. I'd like the idea of a over-the-shoulder, flap-over/napsack convertabag. You know the kind that looks a bit like a soft brief but has two hidden shoulder straps?

What about you all, favorites, suggestions?

Im sure Brenthaven will come out with something nice like the ibook has. Actually since its the same size sorta it will work. Its an over the shoulder bag that holds a couple of books and cell phone real nice.

timbuk2 will also, no doubt, have bags and sleeves designed specifically for these new pb's.

How much room do you think you'd have in one of those bags with the laptop sleeve in it? Enough for 2 or 3 textbooks and a 5 subject notebook?

Another vote for Timbuk2. Their online store is nice..and you can customize your bag in various color schemes. I have one with a seperate padded sleeve for my TiBook and its really nice. A bit pricy (I think I paid like $180 all told for a Commuter Computer bag, with the padded sleeve and some added pockets and such), but hell you're protecting an investment right?

I'm not sold on the all-black, though it does look damn solid.

edit - yikes! 4-6 week wait on these bags

I'm just using an attache case with a shoulder strap that my dad got at a FileMaker convention for free? he gets one every year so he's been giving them to various family members. It's not great but it sure does the job.

However, for a sleeve to protect my iBook against damaging objects, I just today ordered a <a href="http://www.radtech.us/powersleevz.html"; target="_blank">PowerSleevz</a>. It's super thin and it's actually suitable for use as a cleaning cloth for the laptop screen. Should fit the 12" PowerBook as well.

i wanted a fake fur jaguar case for my ibook, so i made one that fits it perfectly. i hate to carry around a laptop in a bag that shows what's inside it. so i have the fake fur jaguar case and i carry that inside my normal backpack when i need to go around with the 'book.

i'd like to get something for the ipod though.. the jacket shown in keynote probably not, but i'll invent something .. [yep, i'm finally getting the ipod... ]

I don't see what's so special about Waterfield Designs. The bags look tacky and expensive after all. I like their laptop sleeves though.

I haven't really seen sleeves that I like too much so far. Personally, I think I could do a better job with some neoprene and leather.

I could also get something fabbed out of aluminum so that I could use it inside the case, kinda like a flip over binder designed to hold the PB, a few accessories/discs etc. While I have the perfect guy to fab the case (which I would then skin with leather) I think there might be issues with the aluminum stock and static electricity, would the sheet have to be treated in any special way? I wouldn't want to damage the book with static discharge.
