How close do you sit to ur screen?
I didn't used to sit close to my screen but as of lately, i have been finding myself six inches away from my screen, when i can read perfectly fine 2ft or so away. I have noticed that i'm starting to get a LITTLE blurry in my left eye at things further away, but I can't imagine that would be it.
Just looking for a consensus, and is there anyway to fix me accidentaly doing this without having to think about it...or duct taping my head to my chair?

I think I'm at a good distance. I don't have any eye aches or problems and I've been using computers daily (for long periods of time) for nine years now.
Oddly, I'm the ONLY person I know in my ENTIRE circle of friends, co-workers, family, hangers-on, peripheral buddies, neighbors, etc. who doesn't wear glasses or contacts.
I'm serious. I was thinking about this one day and I honestly could not recall anyone I know that doesn't wear glasses or contacts.
I've always had really good vision, and still do [knocks really hard on the nearest piece of wood...no, not THAT wood...]
Lately I've noticed my vision is a bit blurry, and I've used computers everyday for the past two years. At my computer I sit about a-foot-and-a-half from my screen. I can read just fine, but things that are far away(+15') are blurry.

you have become short sighted and should get a perscription ASAP.
If your using a CRT monitor you should set up your refresh rate to 85hz or higher to avoid flickering and eyestrain.
As for for how far i can sit away from my screen, well with a very big telescope id say about a mile and half.
The human eye is not designed to focus on objects within 3 feet for long periods. If you do this, you become nearsighted as it realigns itself to adapt.
If you do keep your screen closer than that, be sure to look away from the screen every 15 minutes or so and focus on something much farther away.
Unfortunately, I learned all this after my vision (originally 20/16) had deteriorated somewhat. I still don't need glasses, but I probably will in the next few years.
I keep the screen about 3 feet away, although at home that means that I lean back in my chair all the time.

I did me eyes in on a really old VGA monitor years ago and wasnt aware of the problems hey can have on your eye sight, as a result my eyes are buggered.
I think everyone who has bad eye sight due to computer screens should get together and sue the manufacturers (just like the tobaco industry), Just a thought but at least they should pay for new glasses every couple of years.
...I am just about to move it a little futher away from me!
My vision? Not too good, but then-again it's not terrible by any means. To the extent that it's hard for me to identify faces of passerbys in low-light, but I can generally function pretty well without my glasses. It also doesn't hurt that I blow up everything: webpage text, word processor documents, PDF's, etc.

I thought all this stuff about computer use changing your eyesight was an update old wives tale. Any one have an real research to back that up.
