Switching: Entourage to Mail/Address Book/iCal

Right now I use Entourage v.X for all of my mail, address book, and calendar needs. Frankly, I wouldn't mind gettign away from M$ as much as possible (about the only other M$ app I use on a regular basis is Word), and also, I would like to have benefit of the integration of Address Book, and some of the other features of iCal, etc.

How is Mail? I've never used it, and I am very used to Entourage, haveing used it for about 2 years. Would it be an easy enough transition? I have multiple e-mail accouns (POP and IMAP) and many many messages.

Please to let me know what you think. Thanx.

I've used Mail exclusively since March of 2002, and the updated version that comes with Jaguar is kinda nice.

Everyone's needs are different, but I don't have any complaints. I used Entourage a bit at an older job of mine, but I never got into all the features and bells and whistles.

Actually, I received Office v.X as a Christmas present (yeah, no kidding...me too! ), and I fired up Entourage a couple of times to check it out, but I continue to use Mail. It's just well put together and easy.

    Kinda like me.

    But seriously...

I use Mail and iCal and Address Book CONSTANTLY and never once wished "hmm, maybe I should give Entourage a serious try...".

Works for me and my modest needs.

Mail? You hardly notice it's there. I decided to not even fire up Entourage v.X when I got my PowerBook G4 in September. I went straight from Entourage 2001 to Mail and have never looked back. It's kinda perfect almost. Notice no one ever rants or speculates about the next "Mail" revision?

Not trying to be anti-Apple here, but in my opinion, u should not switch to Mail and ical. Entourage integrative functions make it much more easy to use.

U will understand what I mean when u really switch. Whatever u chose, good luck. Always backup your data before u do anything!

You know what? I'm really ambivalent about what you just said. I understand the fact that iCal's calendar and task functions are severely limited. But it just doesn't seem right using Entourage. I don't know what it is. I just feel "dirty."

MS do makes some crap software like windows, but Office X for mac really is a good piece of software. After clearing the 'dirty' hurdle, u will find that entourage really have many great functions!!

Entourage is pretty cool, but I got tired of switching from Address Book to Calendar to Email windows in the SAME app. Having 3 icons instead of 1 in the Dock makes my day run much smoother since I quit using Entourage completely.

Mail's Junk Mail filter blows Entourage out of the water. It also handles attachments better. It also searches my mailboxes better, faster, easier. Accesss to Address Book and Address History is very nice.

The ONE thing I miss from Entourage's email is the ability to click on a message in my inbox to see my reply to that message.
