My sister has an iMac G3 400Mhz. When I search for processor upgrades on the internet, all I see is upgrades for the 266Mhz, 366Mhz... Can the 400Mhz be upgraded to a G4? Where can I find upgrades for this machine?
Sorry, all you can upgrade on those is the hard drive and RAM. The processor is part of the motherboard, not a removable daughtercard like in the 233-333 MHz iMacs.
You could conceivably also upgrade the optical drive and the motherboard itself to give you a faster G3 and possibly a CD-RW or Combo drive, but that's not practical. I'd say, if you want a faster computer, you'll just have to buy one.
I suppose one option would be to trade your current iMac for an old tray-loading iMac, and use the cash you get from the trade towards upgrades. The tray-loaders can get a G4 and a CD-RW drive in addition to the standard RAM and hard drive upgrades. Still, it's not that practical. If you want expandability, get a PowerMac G4 tower with an AGP slot.

The only problem with getting a tray loader is that the bus speed is 66MHz and the slot loaders are 100MHz.
I've often thought about this, seeing as how I'll have my 400MHz tangerine iMac DV back in my possession in a few years (a buddy bought it, but with the understanding that when she's done with it and is ready to get another computer, I get to buy it back).
If the processor can't be upgraded, that's cool becuase I'd just be using it for an Internet/e-mail/iTunes station (and a show-piece in the living room ).
But I would LOVE to be able to install a cool slot-loading Combo Drive into it, as well as max out the RAM and slap an AirPort card into it, so it can "talk" to whatever other Macs I'll have in the house at that point.
As it is, it just has a DVD-ROM in it. Cool, but not the most useful thing going. A nice, fast Combo Drive (burns CD-R at 16-24x would be wonderful)...kinda like the ones currently shipping in the iBooks, iMacs and 12" PowerBook.
Also, I'd drop in a 40GB hard drive.
Are the video cards on those things upgradeable at all? Probably not...
No... the only time any iMac has had any sort of available video upgrade was the Rev. A, which had a Rage II with 2 MB of VRAM. You could add a 4 MB VRAM module to raise the VRAM to 6 MB, but that was it. And the Rev. A was replaced within two months with the Rev. B, which had 6 MB standard anyway.

<strong>you can get a g4? are you sure?</strong><hr></blockquote>
Yeah there is (or at least there was) a G4 upgrade for the iMacs.
