I'm thinking of buying a webcam. But I have some questions.

1. Can I do webconferencing with a windows computer? What program would I need?

2. What brand of webcam would you people reccomend me? I don't want a too expensive one and I will be using it with my iBook.

3. Are all webcams compatible with mac?

Good questions, but there are no easy answers.

Before you buy a webcam find out what video conference software your PC counterparts will be using and make sure there is a Mac version. I don't know of any offhand, but I've heard that <a href="http://www.squidsoft.com"; target="_blank">SquidSoft</a> works with Net Meeting.

As for the Camera, well..that's even trickier. Most webcams are USB, but there aren't a lot of choices for Macs. I think Firewire webcam would be better and I've read that Jaguar has native support for Firewire webcams, although I don't know how great that is.

I believe the standouts (or only) offerings in the Firewire webcam market are the OrangeMicro's iBot and iRez's Kritter and Stealth cams.

Hopefully someone here know's more than I do?
