Canon To Purchase Apple Says "Futurist"

Posted:
in General Discussion edited January 2014
Self declared "futurist" Michael Rogers of Newsweek (via MSNBC) says so. One of the reasons according to Mr. Rogers is that Apple uses Canon products in its ads. (He claims this is a recent development). I emailed him that Canon cameras have been in Apple ads for two years now. I suppose seeing into the future does not include knowing about the recent past.

Here's the article:

must be someone who "just" read Apple Confidential. In the 80s or 90s canon was indeed about to buy Apple. Also Philips... by ONE vote Philips' board didnt.

    EmAn,

Actually, it's a subject that comes up often, Apple joining with another company. Consolidation will eventually happen. HP and Compaq get together and they best Dell in sales. See, sometimes mergers can have good effects. Not saying it will happen but it's a possibility.

P.S. If you don't like the post so be it. Were you forced to view it?

Yes, we should all adopt EmAn's high standards. Ridiculous threads, pointless one sentence replies... let's can this stuff, right EmAn?

I think it's worth posting here - it's good for a laugh. (even funnier if we link to this thread in a year when it happens)

In theory you could buy Apple for relatively little, as most of the company's value lies in it's cash reserves and short term investments, which you'd get having bought the company anyway. The difference between it's share value and cash reserves, the amount you'd have to pay, is relatively small. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
