Downloading multiple files or folders from iCloud Drive to iOS device?

Is there really no way to select multiple files or folders to download from iCloud Drive to iPad?   Heck you can't even download a single file to iPad from iCloud Drive without opening the file first (which seems to download to device for offline use).  I fly frequently and need to have files stored on my iPad from iCloud Drive (like how ALL iCloud Drive files as mirrored to Mac for offline use).  

Am I missing something?
