Canon Printers....The Way To Go

Well i got a printer and it's the Canon S520 and boy is it a good printer....not many post about it here or else where but i must..it works soooooo fast in os x (not a os 9 user anymore) it prints a full page of text in 4sec! now that is fast....another thing is that all of the reviews on the net say it's not good at printing text that the text doesn't look good.....how worng they all where....it is so close to laser text that if someone asked you which is which you would have a hard time knowing....

If people have the wrong setting set when they print something then you can make any printer look bad.

The inks cost far less than the Hp 5550 that i was thinking about geting and in the end it's not loud as some other brands out there <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

If there are other canon users post here what you think as it may help that other user that doesn't know anything about them in the macworld....Good brand, Good printers.

Considering that Canon is phasing out their printer division, and it probably won't even exist in a year, I wouldn't be too excited about their printers, and I certainly wouldn't be recommending them to anyone.

I'm quite happy with my S900. The text output is not as sharp as a laser (I had a HP 5 MP before), but photos are great. And it's FAST.

Thanks for your beautiful opinion on why I haven't responded. Perhaps it because I haven't looked back at this thread until now. Perhaps it's because this issue is so not important to me, that I don't check back every ten minutes like you apparently do. In 24 hours you've posted three comments about what I said.

Sorry, I have a life.... I'm sorry that you don't.

Time Magazine. Interview with the CEO of Canon. I will find you the link and I will post it for you.

    Thanks

I have a Canon S750 and it is by far the best printer I have ever used. I was going to upgrade to the S900, but didn't notice enough difference to fork over the extra 200 bucks. Canon makes incredible printers (I have the S750), digital cameras (PowerShot S30), and camcorders (Canon GL2). And their printer ink is half the cost of HP or Lexmark inks and the print quality is amazing.

I used to have a Canon BJ 820, when they first came out with the bubble jet printers. I set it to print a page of pictures at 360DPI on an old Amiga 500... Went to sleep and it was almost done by morning. Had replacable print heads and separate print cartridges... You should have seen the AJ10 (I think) or the CJ10... The AJ had a scanning plate of almost 4 feet by 5 feet, and printed 4 feet wide. All bubblejet... CJ10 was similar but 8x10 inches.

Anyways, Canon has been integrating their copier lineup with digital options like the GP30 and GP55 (and many new ones since then) With their market lead in Color Copiers and the Fiery printer rips, I couldn't see them stepping out of the prnter lineup...

Now, if you meant that Canon is getting out of the bubblejet printlineup, I could somehow see that. Their products have (in my opinion) getting cheaper and cheaper until they are very poor. I know some have mentioned they are great little printers, but for print work there are definitely better. Their technology is definitely quieter, and I haven't really considered any since a BJ 600 died and the printhead needed replacing... They wanted almost $200 for one of the four print heads, and two werre dead.

I went Epson... never really looked back...
