Cheapest, most efficient way to upgrade to a new powerbook?

I currently have a 400mhz lombard powerbook g3 that I purchased in november of 1999. I've upgraded it to a 20gb HD, 384ram, i'm running jaguar, and all in all, I still love my machine, but I'm feeling the urge to upgrade after about 3.5 years. I had my old LcIII desktop for about 6 years before I got the laptop and now unfortunately I don't want to wait another couple years. I've been looking at used powerbook g4's, on ebay mainly, but for some reason it seems to me people are trying to sell them for a lot more than they're worth. What is the feasability of one of the 500mhz Tibooks, I feel like it wouldn't be a huge upgrade over the 400 g3, am I wrong? Do you guys have any suggestions of where I would/what I should look for? BTW i'm a college student so, budget is somewhat limited. Also, what should I do with the lombard? keep it? sell it?

Thanks a lot
