DSL networking

My dad called me earlier. He is considering a DSL connection and wants to share it between his G4 Cube and my step moms Sony PIII computer.

He would like to go wireless as His Mac is upstairs and the PC is downstairs.

Any thoughts on reasonably priced hardware.

I was thinking maybe a USB wireless ethernet adapter at the PC end. I am sure it already has a ethernet connection. It, of course needs to be wireless at one end or the other.

Thanks.

    I'd recommend the 802.11b (or 802.11g) route.

It works great, and is easily expandable if you add a computer to it.

If you're not a cheap s.o.b., then I'd recommend the Airport ... it works flawlessly in my home with a n iBook, iMac, and a WinXP machine. If Money matters, then the Linksys (spelling?) system also works well and is about half the price.

With this system, NONE of the computers have to be located anywhere near the DSL modem ... and your speed can be optimized by putting the DSL modem as close as possible to where the phone line enters your house.

Not sure about the newer airport base stations, but I used an older base station for a long time. I then switched to a Linksys wireless router and the range is MUCH better. I would expect it is because it has external antennae.

Once you go wireless, you never go back.
