I have a cube that I am committed to keeping. I want to upgrade my graphics card to maximize video editing capabilities. What's the best card? Any thoughts? GForce3, Radeon? I dont know the differences... <img src="embarrassed.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    no need to shout.

This is beginning to sound like purchasing advice. I'm moving this to General Discussion.

As for what card you would want for video editing... last I checked a Rage 128 pro was just fine for video editing. You're not going to be able to fit a card into your Cube that allows video input for an external source.

Really, for a cube, you shouldn't have to upgrade at all.

Apparently, there's a guy out there who got an 8500 and a DP upgrade in his cube. . . damn near anything is possible.

Unless you want Quartz Extreme to work properly and didn't have the foresight to get a Cube with a Radeon card to start with...

Most Cube owners I know have jacked the graphics up: I've got a geForce 2MX in mine.

A good source of information is on <a href="http://www.cubeowner.com/faqs/videoupgrades.html"; target="_blank">www.cubeowner.com</a>. Some cards are proving a tad tricky to source now, since everyone's been out and snapped them up, but they do surface every once in a while.

Well, he said he wanted to "maximize his video editing capabilities". Quartz Extreme is pretty much a toy. I mean, what valuable service does it provide to Final Cut Pro? The Genie effect is now faster? Woo.

But yeah, if you just want to trick out your cube...

Quite true, but for keeping the OS load down on the processor, QE has to be a help? Anything that's shoving screen display elsewhere can't hurt effects rendering in FCP...
