Snazzy LCD iMac accessory I stumbled upon...
Hey, just wanted to let some of you LCD iMac owners know about something cool I saw tonight at - of all places - Target...in the - of all places - kitchen section.
It was a 12" diameter rotating platform ("lazy susan"?) that is meant to...well, I'm not quite sure what it's meant for.
HOWEVER, the first (and only) thought that struck me was "hey, here's a $5, perfectly sized iMac 'spinner-arounder' for easy access to the rear ports!"
It was made from plastic and was actually white with curved, sloped edges and plenty of room to sit the iMac on. I believe it was right around $5 or so.
They had a 10" version as well, but it would've been too small to hold the iMac's dome body completely.
Anyway, just wanted to give those interested a head's up: an affordable, no-assembly-required swivel platform for those wanting easy, quick access to the rear ports on their flat-panel iMacs.
And being white shiny plastic, it totally fits the look of the iMac (in other words, it isn't wood or wicker ).

Yeah it's a very simple solution but as I said, your connected cords need to have some slack or else it won't swivel very far.
Sure beats paying about $130 for that UFO thingy

Well, I'm just reminding everyone.
Ooh, sorry Satchmo! I should've been paying more attention.

basically its for spices and like napkins and kitchen crap... put it in the middle of the table or something..... can spin it to get stuff that is on the other side.
so like put salt and pepper shakers on it and stuff.
pretty ummmm dumb but thats what its for
Andrew
actually its meant to be a carousel for field mice. Its fun as hell to spin it really fast and see the little buggers hang on for dear life and then eventually fly off.

Yeah, but the UFO thing looks so cool, just look at thegelding's setup pic.

You can achieve the same effect with some plexiglass, blue LED's, and a USB cable. I'm working on something like that for my mousepad.
