Reasonable price for a dual-867?

A friend has offered to sell his dual-867 to me. He bought it on the August 21st 2001, so there are 6 months left on the warranty.

Spec:

Dual 867

512MB (upgraded from 256mb)

120GB Western Digital with 8mb cache (upgraded from the 60GB)

Fully boxed

I can probably still get a new one in the UK for £1149 ($1878) with 256MB/60GB. A new single 1GHz over here in Blighty is £1,055 ($1727) - but only 256MB/60GB.

Furthermore, I like the idea of duals, and am not that bothered about Airport extreme. Already have a bluetooth dongle.

With that in mind, I'd say under £1100 ($1801) for the used one from my friend, or am I being stingy?

Any advice would be great,

First : There was no Dual 867 in August 2001. Only single 867 or Dual 800.

For your help, I've sold my Dual 800 with 1.5 GB RAM, SuperDrive, GeForce 4 MX 64MB, 80 GB HD, Apple Pro Keyboard & Pro Mouse with Apple Speakers for £1262 ($1947).

So check that the Quicksilver is not overclocked.

But if I were you I will take a MDD Dual 867 for £1149.

Don't forget to ask for the power supply and fan replacement kit from Apple.

My bad: i meant to say 2002

It is a dual 867, not a quicksilver. Everything in my post *is* correct, apart from the mistake with the dates.

SO! Still worth it? I have just found out that the drive is the <a href="http://www.pcextreme.net/wd1200jb.php"; target="_blank">Western Digital WD1200JB</a>.

Considering that you can buy brand new ones (left overs) for $1499.00, I would pass. But that's me.

    I got a 867 Dual PM for $1,200 OBR.

Should get it tomorrow. This machine is a much better value than the single proc 1G currently being offered.

I was thinking about selling mine to change to a powerbook. It has 768 MB RAM and stock stuff otherwise. I would expect to get £1000 really, possibly up to £1100. I think that £1100 is a very reasonable amount for both of you with the extra storage, especially as they are really still better than the new 1 Ghz model and especially with the new power supply available.

Brand new dual 867's are going for around $100CAN less than the single-giggler here in Calgary. They are hard to find tho. I want one badly (ibook slow), but find it hard to give up the portability of the iBook.
