Where are all the smaller companies going?
Once again do you have any info?
Has anyone taken a notice of so many independent software companies disappearing? Of course not. To most they are not important because they are small, but aren't they attractive to a company looking to add features to current or future applications (APPLE) .

How many of the aforementioned Companies do you own product from?
My tally is a big fat ZERO.
I'm sure others are in the same boat as me.
If you can't find backing or make a profit on your own. The economy and investors state of mind is not going to support you.
Times are tough...so the loss of smaller companies is no surprise.
I have tried to pay the measley $20-$30 for shareware. They deserve it much more than most fat cat software companies.
There's nothing else much we can do. But wait.
Don't forget that there are hordes of independent software developers emerging.
