DELL's new 15.4" notebook

The screen of this computer is amazing. It can display 1920 X 1200 pixels, basically the same as the 23" cinemadisplay.

OK,OK, I know, so many pixels on such a small surface will have you end up using a magnifier to work. Eventhough you might not work the whole day on such a resolution, it's nice to be able to see 2 full pages on your screen on the go, or to extend the timelines of softwares such as Flash, Final cut Pro or After Effects.

Still, I have to say that I have been unimpressed for quite some times by Apple screens' resolutions. Even on the new 17" PB which has a 1440 X 900 resolution Vs. 1600 X 1200 for Sony or Dell on 16" and 15" screens. That make you think of a lot of other things as well. Imagine if the 23" display could have the Pitch of the DELL notebook. We would end up with a 4000 X 2400 something display. Nice. :eek: <a href="http://www.dell.com/us/en/bsd/products/model_inspn_2_inspn_8500.htm"; target="_blank">http://www.dell.com/us/en/bsd/products/model_inspn_2_inspn_8500.htm</a>;

    I'm sure that 1920x1200 on a 15.4" display is most certainly NOT amazing when you're stuck on one of the many flash pages with fixed size fonts, or numerous UI elements that still don't scale seamlessly. That only sounds good, we aren't close to that kind of resolution independance yet, certainly not with a laptop video chip set. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[oyvey]" />

    No, it's closing altogether now. See the other Dell thread:
