Quicktime PVR
I was looking at the Apple Software page in the Apple Store and ran across the software.
QT 6 MPEG-2 Playback - Mac OS 9/X $19.99
This add-on to QuickTime 6 and QuickTime 6 Pro provides the ability to import and play back MPEG-2 content, including both muxed (the audio and video tracks are interlaced together into one track) and non-muxed (a.k.a. elementary) program streams.
Does this mean you could build your own or possibly use your Mac/PC as its own PVR?
Could this be incorporated in a stand alone device? What is the reasoning behind requiring additional money above the $30 pro key?
Any thoughts in a future PVR?

MPEG 2 requires it's own licensing fees. Apple is probably just passing that along.
