Apple LaserWriter 8500 Question

Long time lurker, first time poster.  Was hoping for some help. Does anyone know if a LaserWriter 8500 will work with today's computers?  My dad has a network of PCs and Macs on a home network.  I'm considering buying this kinda as a vintage gift, but if it would work with his computers, even better!  He's been a Mac guy as far back as I can remember so he may not not even use it and save it till it's an antique. lol
