Mac Pro 2011 can't run new OS ; any workaround?

My daughter has a 2011 MBP 15" , 16 gb which is a dearly loved family original . However, she's been informed that the new OS will not run on the MBP of that vintage. She runs CAD software at university in design classes. Is there a workaround for the new OS on the older MBP ?

I don't think that will affect the CAD software she's currently running. I assume she's talking about the macOS Catalina.

But there are tricks to let unsupported Macs to run the latest and greatest, but it's risky, you've been warned.
