I'm not sure what to think. But I'd be very surprised if Apple introduced both an LCD and 17" CRT iMac. They would not bother to develop a 17" iMac for the low-end model only to drop it once they go all LCD. It's an interesting idea to be sure, but there seems to be a lot of holes in the story.

Interesting, it makes sence to keep the iMac under $1000.

Also, the link to the other news article says the iPod will get appoinment and addessing software. Sounding more like a PDA everyday.

Odd. The link doesn't even say if the 17" is an LCD or a CRT. But if Apple had a 15" LCD priced at 1300, and a 17" at 1000, well that would be dumb.

But I would LOVE to see two new versions of the iMac, both with LCDs, one with a 15" LCD, one with a 17" LCD! That would be the smartest thing Apple has done in years. I'd want the 17" iMac so bad I'd probably piss my pants.

The link below is to a related story and although it does not mention a CRT either, it can't be anything else, since it says the LCD will be a 15" model.

You need to read more carefully. The context of the article makes it fairly clear that they are talking about a CRT. And if it doesn't, then I should hope the following sentence from the article does:

[quote]Nothing is known, as yet, about the appearance of the scaled up tube-screen iMac.

Just thought I'd toss that in.

    Extremely interesting.It could be a short tube/CRT

17" iMac.People have complained for years for a

minimum of 17" screen. So, Apple listened to its

customers. So it could be possible we have two iMacs

on the horizon.Alot of people complain about LCD

screens.Bad pixels etc..Apple Computers iMac beat

IBM in quality testing.Lucent Technology did alot

of work for the iMac.Three more weeks to go.Now I have to contemplate which machine to order?I will have mine shipped to my job.My wife is going to kill me.Plus, I will need a carrying case for

the iMac 2002.I love these forums.Peace.
