Apple TV vs AirPlay

I’ve been watching “For All Mankind” on Apple TV+. With the exception of the forthcoming Foundation, it’s the only Apple television series that sounds interesting to me so far. 

Right now, I’m streaming it to my Visio TV via airplay. I’m wondering: Is there any real advantage to buying an Apple TV and watching it from there instead? Or would that simply be another remote control to get lost?

    I would imagine that the version of the show or movie that a Mac or iOS device downloads or streams doesn't have features that those devices support, like Dolby Atmos, possibly HDR and maybe other gubbins.  The Apple TV therefore might give a better experience if your setup supports those things, and you're interested in them.
