Data recovery from dead MBP

If a new MBP is dead, let's say the CPU is toasted. How can I get the data out of it?

AFAIK, Apple removed the data recovery port. Do I need to spend tens of thousand on data recovery?

My understanding was that the 2018 MBP didn't have that port due to the T2 encryption. Therefore the cheapest solution was to have regular backups to hand.

At that time DriveSavers claimed that they could still recover data from the 2018/T2 SSD drives but you had to send them the whole machine or logic board. Yes, it wouldn't je cheap.

I'm not entirely sure what that the position is for the 2019 machines nor if what I said about the 2018 is 100% correct.

I don't have any of the latest MBPs so have no first hand experience.
