Email notification

Can we make 'email notification' a default setting in new threads, like 'show signature'? Receiving email notification of replies is very useful but it's very easy to forget to select the option, especially on small screen like The Blue Meanie's iMac. And why would anyone object to receiving them?

    I dont like when my inbox is full of emails from autmated sites... its annoying... if we got a PM whenever a reply was posted--now that would be useful... it would a centralized place where we could organize (read delete) old or useless drivel and keep the good stuff w/o having to open up another app...

    Is that even possible?
