iOS (and macos) apps in real need of some love

I've been a Mac user since I got my first Apple Performa 630. Apart from a brief break with PCs, I've been an Apple user since. Yet, I feel surprised looking at some Microsoft software at what feels like a lack of love or investment in basic iOS and macos apps. As I long time Office user I recently tried Outlook on iOS and have been blown away at its superiority in many things to Mail and Calendar. Admittedly, there are occasions where new events take some time to appear after adding, accounts don't sync across my devices. However, the focus mailbox is a god send, the UI feels more modern and up-to-date, search is far superior to Mail in iOS and the way the calendar in outlook recognises certain words and adds an icon accordingly - for coffee, sports, calls etc. - feels slick and intuitive. With new Outlook coming to macos, finally with support for iCloud, and I can see myself dropping using Calendar and Mail altogether. At the very least, do you think we might see updates to both in iOS and macOS? And perhaps the UI language of the new media apps is macOS being transferred to some of the older stalwarts on the mac?

I also feel it's beyond time the home screen received a face lift. I was looking forward to this but the change was limited to iPadOS and even then, only in landscape mode. I don't know about others, but I would like to be able to add widgets to each space in iOS, so potentially you could have a screen with the activity widget (and others) along with your health apps; a series of transport/map widgets on another screen with those apps...the idea being that I can quickly see certain information and also automate certain tasks without going into the apps themselves.

Having used Windows 10 and Bootcamp, I find my apps and system running significantly faster in macOS than Windows. Yet, it feels as though Microsoft are actually making fresher, more useful apps for me than Apple. Mail in particular feels ripe for an overall. Any thoughts?
