FCiB and retribution...

I am not going to rant about FCiB but use his situation as an example of what I think should not be done in a situation. When a member goes over the line (in a Moderators opinion) and they decide tat he shoul take a break and come back when things have cooled down, the should not delete every post of the person in retribution. Sure, delete the offending posts, it may be more work but it is fair, but whole threads and lots of interesting discussion that had arisen dissapeared never to be recovered. Imagine if EmAN had that happen to him for spamming the boards and they erased all his posts, AI would have to reboot the forums and bring in 6 new members just to get started again.

However, just a suggestion, please don't erase all of a poster's comments just because they ticked you off one time too many. It affects more than jsut the poster, it also affects those who spent time in threads they created and now find that those threads are gone, without a trace. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Looking at the title and the poster, I thought this was going to be about how we were all going to hell because FCiB was temporarily banned.

But yes, I thought it was a little Orwellian (to use the premise of another thread) that all trace of his existence just disappeared.

In retrospect, it was the wrong thing to do. I didn't know that it would delete all the threads that he had started which had valid discussion going on in them.

    Sorry, guys...
