    Complete nonsense, of course. iPhones have had cases since iPhones. The 4 was chastised for having two sides of glass. You don’t need one tho...my 11 Pro is without a case; only if going to the gym or such do I use one. It’s fine.

    Phones don't need a case at all. Cases are completely optional.

    I've used my SE without a case for a long time now, and it still looks pristine and functions great.
    Tell that to someone who works in construction. 
    Special use cases doesn’t negate what he said. They are not needed, despite the OP’s claim that it’s poor design mandating cases. That being said, depending on your use case, it may be wise to use a case. Sounds like you found one.
