I bought a used MacBook Pro late 2013 retina display has Catalina on it, admin password has not been created I guess there was a note in the box that said just press enter don’t type in a password how can I put my own password On my MacBook if there is not one created can I just make one in the user page under Administrator

    You can make one as an administrator under system preferences---users and groups.

    You really should wipe the hard drive and do a clean install. That will give you a clean setup, that will help you set the passwords needed.

    Even if you trust the person selling it to you to not intentionally have put any sort of malware on it, you can't trust that they didn't accidentally get tricked into installing something bad (which might monitor your activity, steal your accounts, CC#s, etc).

    I agree with Svanstrom. In fact, I'll go a step further. I wouldn't use a Mac my own mother sold me without a complete erase & reinstall of the OS.
