Need Help Installing Mojave 2012 Mini
Hopefully someone more proficient than myself with macOS can help me out. Here's the quick story. I had updated my 2012 mini to Catalina so the BootRom was updated. I want to drop back down to Mojave. I created a Mojave USB installer first with Diskmaker then via the Terminal. Both will Boot the mini and I can get to Disk Utility and attempt to install the OS but it fails.
After repeatedly trying this, eventually the mini goes into Internet Recovery mode which downloads Mountain Lion. So I downloaded and installed Mountain Lion via Internet Recovery. Once I get the mini operational with 10.8, I then go to the App Store and download El Capitan. I then begin the upgrade process, the system reboots then I get a message "No Packages Found" and to "Revert" the installation.
Is this the "new normal" trying to downgrade macOS? I remember in years past you could create a USB Installer, boot and easily install from the USB Flash drive.
TIA !

I had a similar issue restoring an old Mac where it wouldn't install due to the system date being wrong. After changing the date in the command-line, it all installed ok. It was really unusual that the system date was changed and that the Mac system didn't autocorrect it and instead just failed the installation without offering any hint on how to fix it.
