Purchase oriented forum

Today, or sometime in recent history, I guess MOSR set up a purchase guide. Good, only they speak of new models alone, based on their immortally incorrect predictions regarding new hardware.

What I thought I would see, I didn't, but I wouldn't mind seeing it here: a list of ALL hardware Apple has released in its history (and if there is a need, why not other hardware coveted by many AppleInsiders). All this hardware would get its own thread (and of course, the forum should be *cough* searchable). And everybody could discuss the common failures and nice features of the specific hardware. So everytime somebody wants to buy some second-hand Apple hardware, they could check an entire thread of user-reviews at their/my favorite forum.

What would be in this forum? For example, Dual Processor Powermac released Aug. '02. Some specs in the first post, and then some individual comments (first fact, then opinion). For that computer, a remark for possible buyers would be NOISY: buy only if you have decent earplugs.

Anyway. Maybe it exists, but it doesn't at Appleinsider, and that's what matters. I wouldn't mind sharing my experience with some 6 or 7 models of mac, spanning 15 years, I have worked with intensively. Do you get the picture?

    Eh...

As much as i see the helpfulness of this, i'd also warrant that all this information is available piecemeal in the forums as they are currently... you just have to get it yourself and ask or whatnot...

    And, of course, Mactracker.

I don't think we need a database of every Mac ever made, we already have that in multiple places. There's one issue I'd like resolved, though... was there ever a 366 MHz beige G3? Low End Mac mentions it in their beige G3 entry, but Everymac and Apple History don't. Also, I looked and looked for it on Google, and I ended up finding a couple CNet articles that talked about it being developed but it wasn't released yet. They were from late 1998 so I don't know what actually ended up happening. Was there a limited production 366 released just before the blue G3?

Apple's specifications aren't any help at all. They don't even make mention of some of the models that I know existed... they only mention two of the four I know existed (233, 266, 300, 333). So that's no help.

I suppose there's a G3/366 somewhere hiding deep in Cupertino... along with all that other stuff we talk about but never see.
