Is it just me or do countries that have black in their flag have a lot of troubles. Case in point, Taliban was all black.

    Is nice.

However, I think most Iraqi soldiers are currently looking for a white flag.

rastafarian colours are red green and black

rastas ain't dun nobody no 'arm mon... busy jammin'

plenty of countries have black in their flags

some with violent pasts, admittedly, but more often due to equatorial proximity

easy browse by letter at world flag database

but there are four or five middle eastern countries that are sticking with the same bars and only messing with the stars and central content. syria (2) and iraq (3) are the same colour scheme, Yemen has no stars, Egypt has a crest in the centre... easy to confuse some

Saddam added the arabic script between the three stars just before Gulf War I,

Heck you dont even have to design one. Its been done. The colours are red and white, they are stripes and there is this box like part in the left and side corner at the stop with stars!

*Not really funny but hey, what the heck!

That's due to the Pan-Arabist ideology very popular in the ?60s, Egypt also aletered its own to regain more distinctivness.

That's due to both of them being rueld by the same Pan-Arabist party: the Ba'ath.

    ?God is greatest?

That was part of of Saddam's ?epiphany?, finding Allah, forsaking hard liquor, etc?

More an attempt to recapture some Islamist fervour, as Arab nationalism mixed with Marxism no longer delivered.

I say give them back the original Hashemite flag, and a constituational monarch, I nominate 'Hassan bin Talal, brother of late King 'Hussain of Jordan, for the job.

What a strange article, the way it veered off at the end into tarantino-esque dialogue.
