I've just noticed my Yo Yo AC adapter for my clamshell iBook no longer

seems to be charging! No charging-status LED comes on, and I'm losing power. Has been working fine for past 3 years, worked earlier this morning.. now.. nothin!

Obviously I will borrow a friend's adapter on Mon. but any chance it could be the battery or another hardware issue?

Also, if it is the adapter, what sort of price should i pay on eBay for one?

Thanks,

Dangerou. Joe Dangerou.

There was a design flaw on the yo-yo adapters have where once the charging plug cord gets bent beyond a certain point the rubber cord protector breaks off from the plug. Once that happens, repetative over bending will cause the internal cable to break and begin to spark around the metal brading around the inside of the cable. Once that starts to happen your charger is shot. If you know anyone with applecare and a clamshell iBook have them call and say their charger broke and is sparking at the plug end. They will transfer them to a "iBook expert" and send out a new yo-yo. If you tell them it is sparking they consider it hazardous and do not ask you to send the broken one back, or so I have found.

P.S. Not like I would ever cheat apple out of a power adapter, all my repair requests were legit.
