Is Norton the best way to go? I have a 600 MHz iMac running 9.1 and a cable modem connection.

You don't really need an anti-virus app in OS9. I think there was only one virus ever for OS9.

However, basic firewall protection might not be a bad idea on a cable modem.

Actually, there were a good few viruses for Mac OS 9. Maybe a couple dozen. Many were actually just basic variations of the same one (like the 666/sevendust strands). They were so incredibly rare and far-between (and usually didn't really DO anything), though, that it really was almost never worth buying into Norton antivirus or the others. There are a few free ones around like Agax (i think?) and Disinfectant that work just fine.

As for a firewall, that's very likely another non issue on Mac OS 9. Techies I knew always considered Classic Mac OS pretty solid as far as ports go because it never really opens anything up. I wouldn't worry about that either.
