How has the internet changed your life?
I was sitting here working on a project that requires intervention every 5 minutes or so. in other words, it's extrememly boring but i have to sit here and wait, and i started to think about how annoying this would be if it weren't for the internet.
while i sit here waiting for each scan to finish, i have a world of information at my fingertips.
at these boards alone i'm exposed to dozens of opinions and world views that i never would have had otherwise.
i can research topics at the drop of a hat that would have taken me hours and hours to find at a library. suddenly, amazingly complex information is available on a casual basis.
so how as the 'net affected your life?
(this all kicked off as i posted an image of "Puff the Magic Dragon" in the image association thread. i saw Puff with his cloud of smoke, and thought to myself how niave kids are. sorry, mind is wandering)

I would know less about the world. My thought processes would be less refined. I wouldn't have known that Bahrain was actually a country. I wouldn't have so much music at my command.
And I would also have a very hard time checking my e-mail.
I give the internet a negative net life impact without the music. But when the music is factored in it's definitely far into the positive.
But anywho... The internet is amazing. If I ever have to use my computer without a connection it totally takes me by surprise. I don't even think about it anymore, just click Mail to check mail, working on homework.. take a quick break for a round on some message boards. Without the internet computers would be about 60% as cool as they are.
And mostly, if it weren't for the internet, I'd probably have more than 3 and a half hours of sleep before I go into class tomorrow...
pr0n.
man, my younger cousin has no idea how touch it was to get pr0n as a kid. you had to know someone, or find it on the street etc.
now? you can just click on a few web pages and away you go. anonymous (relatively), cheap and endless. everything you could ever want in pr0n.
Check out some of the webcam communities, some freaky sh!t going on there
Suppose I'd have more exercise, more money and better eyesight without the 'net
Barto
Although, without the net I would have prolly written more than 5 lines of HTML/PHP this morning... ahh well back to work...maybe
(Note, add lazy into there cos I cant be bothered to use one of the millions of free dictionaries to check that I spelt exaggerating correctly.... it looks funny. )

I'm not sure about having more money without the net, magazines and videos add up over a period of time, whereas on the net you can get as much free prOn as you want (so I've been told)
One good thing about the net is that you don't have to trudge around the shops anymore. Groceries can be bought online and delivered to your home. I can order DVDs from Hong Kong cheaper than buying them in my local high street, including delivery. Even larger items like washing machines and televisions can be reviewed and compared on the net, making the process of buying them locally a lot quicker.
i wouldn't have known all of you (some good some bad there
AI is part of my life though, its fun to come here talk to people, but the best part is learning from here and having a view of diverse opinions
And the e-mail thing.
I would believe in Habermas a lot more.
I would have a computer with floppy drive.
