Apple seeds fourth betas of iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, tvOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6
Apple has made it to the fourth round of betas, and has provided developer testers with fresh builds of iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, tvOS 14.7, and watchOS 7.6 to try out.
The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled into the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive shortly after the developer versions, available via the Apple Beta Software Program website.
The third round of iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, tvOS 14.7, and watchOS 7.6 betas landed on June 14, following after the second round on June 2, and the first round from May 19.
Based on previous betas, it seems that Apple is using this update as a maintenance and compatibility release, providing performance improvements rather than new features. Apple is also currently testing out the milestone versions of the operating systems, namely iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and watchOS 8, with the first public betas scheduled for July.
Both AppleInsider and Apple itself strongly recommend users don't install the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
