Is the index-function gone?

Well?

I was here last time I looked for it (in 9.something) but suddenly its gone. Can´t´find it anywhere. Not in search or in sherlock. Not anywhere.

Can it have something to do with the fact I upgraded to Mac OS ten? (yes I´m trying to be witty here)

If you mean file indexing which used to be in Sherlock, it's in Get Info in Jaguar. Select the folder; Cmd-I; look for index(ing); click Index Now.

    Thanks. Found it now.

But now I have two problems:

    1) It say that it is indexing but I can´t see any progress. What happens?

    2) Where/how do I search the index?

No progress bar, I'm afraid. But since you index only the folders you will possible search (you don't want to index the whole hard disk), it shouldn't take long.

Well, usually Command-F in Finder and select File Contents. It will search all the files in the folders you select there.

Somehow, it seems to find not all literal occurences.
