I hear Apple will add this and hopefully certificate support to MacOS this summer. Then hopefully I can use the wireless U RI's library.
This isn't just a 'MS thing' but yea I agree Windows and it's lack of security benefits from something like this...
Anyway as for getting OS X to play with 802.1X you can go 'pay' with some company (just search 802.1X and "OS X" via google and you'll find it... or you can check out this if you don't mind playing in the terminal.
Meeting House has a shittacular version of AEGIS client for the Mac. What I'm trying to do is connect over TTLS with a certificate. I can't figure out how to actually LOCATE the certificate file and make the AEGIS app from Meeting House see it. I hit the "change" button and it brings up a dialogue but I can't select it. Cheesy windows port, since the help refers to things that aren't actually there in the mac version. Anyone else used the Meeting House software?

After a re-read I see you said wireLESS... well as for the open version I think it's wired only for now (not sure about the pay-for one)

I hope Apple sorts this all out in 10.3.
