Trying to calibrate my new macbook pro with my datacolor spyderX Pro, Datacolor tech support sent the following Email which I would like explained by Apple:

Datacolor Tech Support:

Please note:
We are sorry, the new 14“ & 16" MacBook Pro 2021 with the new Liquid Retina XDR Display can not be calibrated at all.
Apple has prevented the calibration of this new MacBook Pro. All calibration solutions you will find on the market are effect by this.
Apple released a statement (Oct. 27th) on the Fine tune calibration of the MacBook Pro 2021 with the new Liquid Retina XDR Display. This fine tune can be done using certain spectroradiometers that start at around 15000 USD / 12000 Euro.

Apple has some documents on the calibration:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212851
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210435

    There's a video guide here:

Someone in the Youtube comments said they used a Calibrite product and it worked better than their SpyderX.

    https://calibrite.com/us/product/colorchecker-display-plus/ ($319)

The person who made the video said the SpyderX has the display info on the device:

"based on my understanding current and past Spyder devices will probably never be able to calibrate this display. The matrix calibration data for Spyder is stored on the device and unless they flash the firmware on the device, which I don't know if they do that or not, my understanding is that they don't and it could also be limitation of the sensor. This means, like I said, past and current device will not work despite software update. The only thing is to wait for a new colorimeter from them."
